SOIL ANALYSIS INTERPRETATION

The purpose of soil analysis is to determine the type and amount of nutrients present in the soil solution which may become available for uptake through the plant roots.
Various standard analytical methods are used and all analysis is performed by registered laboratories. The soil analysis results are interpreted by the soil fertility specialist. The interpretations form the basis for a fertilizer and lime recommendation.

Plant nutrients and soil parameters such as P (phosphorus), K (potassium), Na (sodium), Ca( calcium), Mg( magnesium), Al ( Aluminium), SO₄ ( Sulphate), pH ( a measurement used to determine soil acidity), Electrical resistance (Ohms) and Cation Exchange Capacity( C. E. C) are also sometimes used as soil parameters. Clay, silt and sand contents are usually determined in the soil survey phase and are only measured once for each soil series. Trace elements , such as Zn, Fe, Mo, B, Cu, Mn, Ti, NO₃ are sometimes analyzed in the soil, but more often these are analyzed in the plant analysis. Fertilizer recommendations and crop nutrient monitoring are however best achieved using both soil and  plant analyses, the latter being described in the next section.

 

 

GROND ONTLEDING INTERPRETASIE

Die doel van grond ontleding is om die tipe en hoeweelheid plant voedingstowwe in die grond oplosing te bepaal en   hoeveel voedingstowwe daar beskikbaar is vir opneming deur  plant wortels.
Verskillende standaard ontledings metodes word gebruik en ontledings word deur 'n geregistreerde  laboratorium gedoen. Die grond ontleding resultate word geinterpreteer deur die grondkundige.Hierdie interpretasies is die basis vir kunsmis en kalk aanbevelings.

Ons gebruik 'n kombinasie van interpretasie metodes afhangende van die omstandighede, en dus is ons baie suksesvolle . Spoor elemente soos, Zn, Fe, Mn, Mo, B, Cu, Mn, Ti, en NO₃ word somtyds in grond oplossing gemeet, maar die ontledings is dalk meer doeltreffend in plant ontledings.
